Vehicle deposit or reservation policy
Updated October 7, 2026
To give our drivers more flexibility and let them plan trips ahead, Rentalo offers the option of paying a deposit to reserve a vehicle in advance.
How does the deposit work?
- The driver can reserve a vehicle by paying 25% or more of the total rental price.
- This option is only available if the booking is made at least 7 days before the trip starts.
- The vehicle is reserved and blocked for that driver until the payment is completed.
Payment deadline
- The driver must pay the rest of the rental at least 72 hours before the trip starts.
- Payment must be made through Rentalo's official channels (website or app).
What happens if the payment is not completed on time?
If the driver does not complete the payment 72 hours before the trip starts, the vehicle will be released and made available again on the platform. In that case, Rentalo may:
- Offer the driver a vehicle in the same or a lower category, subject to availability.
- Or keep the amount paid as a penalty for non-payment, if no alternative rental takes place.
Additional conditions
- The deposit is not refundable if the driver cancels by their own choice outside the deadlines set in the cancellation policy.
- In duly justified cases of force majeure, Rentalo may consider exceptions at its discretion.
Note: in exceptional cases, with Rentalo's express authorization, the driver may be allowed to pay the remaining amount when the vehicle is handed over. This option is subject to review.
